Iran FM Zarif: Iraq's stances bolster mutual cooperation
Baghdad, Jan 13, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that the positive stances adopted by the Iraqi officials with regard to Iran's assistance bolster and broaden bilateral ties and mutual cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to reporters, Zarif made the remarks upon his arrival in Iraq while lauding the positive stances adopted by Iraqi officials with regard to the US one-sided economic sanctions against Iranian people and underlined that during the visit to Iraq, both sides are determined to further bolster and broaden relations and cooperation between the two sides.
Referring to historical and cultural commonalities, he said this is 'my first visit to Iraq after formation of the new Iraqi government and I will spare no efforts to put into practice such positive stands through assistance of the Iraqi officials'.
After defeating Daesh terrorist group, some such as the US tried to create obstacles on expansion of ties and cooperation between Iran and Iraq, but failed to attain their goals, Zarif said.
The US is the loser horse, Zarif said and advised other countries avoid betting on losing horse.
It is about 40 years that the US has experienced failures in its policies in dealing against the Iranian people, he said.
During his stay, Zarif is to confer with Iraqi officials and also attend at three economic meeting with participation of the private sectors in Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah and Karbala, he said.
Tehran is to spare no efforts to broaden scope of private sectors in Iraq.
