Tehran (ISNA) - Senior Advisor to the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution in International Affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati stressed that Tehran opposes any foreign interference in the regional countries and will stand out against the oppression, conspiracy, aggression and malicious plots of the enemies to undermine and disintegrate the regional countries.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the Syrian ambassador to Iran and a delegation of tribal chiefs and tribal sheikhs on Saturday.

Referring to US president's irrational stance, Velayati said, “Donald Trump’s announcement that US is in Syria to use the Arab country’s oil reserves, is an illegal act, an obvious theft and blatant violation of International Law. The property of each country belongs to its nation and these stances represent conspiracy and malicious acts of enemies for the Islamic countries of the region and we must stand out against such blatant violations and theft of the oppressed nation's property”.

He also pointed to creating a buffer zone in Syria, emphasizing, “Iran opposes creating a buffer zone by foreigners in Syria and foreign interference in Syria or elsewhere in the region, because it means geopolitical shift in the region and separating countries and handing it over to foreigners which undoubtedly is in conflict with Syrian interests”.

"If a change is necessary in the Syrian constitution, it should be made only by the Syrian people and without interference of any other country. We are confident that the Syrian nation and government will soon release Idlib and reach east of Euphrates because the region belongs to Syrian nation," Velayati went on to say.
