Playing with terrorists' card, is playing with fire: Senior official

Tehran, Dec 29, IRNA – A senior Iranian official criticized measures taken by certain parties to save terrorists noting that playing 'with terrorists' card is like playing with fire.'

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the special aide to Majlis (Parliament) speaker, made the remarks here on Wednesday during a meeting with the visiting Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Bashar al-Jaafari.

Amir-Abdollahian stressed the importance of finding a political solution based on a Syrian-Syrian dialogue for the Syrian crisis, underlining that Tehran continues its effective support for Damascus till the complete fulfillment of diplomatic solution in the Arab country. 

The presence of the terrorists in Syria is against peace and security both in Syria and the entire region, Amir-Abdollahian said.

Referring to Iran's policies focusing on the friendly interactions with the Islamic countries, the official stressed that the Islamic Republic's strategy is also based on boosting all-out brotherly cooperation with all regional and Islamic states. 

Turning to the liberation of the Syrian strategic city of Aleppo, Amir-Abdollahian congratulated al-Jaafari on the occasion saying that resistance of the city's residents as well as of those of the Syrian Army have resulted to the defeat of the Takfiri terrorists in Aleppo.

He urged the global community to accelerate the dispatch of humanitarian aid to the crisis-stricken regions in Aleppo, Al-Fu'ah and Kefriya and other areas. 

Touching upon Tehran-Damascus relations, the senior advisor said that the two capitals enjoy historical, friendly, strategic and deep relations.

He described Iran and Syria as two important pro-resistance countries in the World of Islam.

For his part, the Syrian envoy described Iran as the frontrunner in the fight against terrorism and Takfiri trend.

Al-Jaafari further referred to Iran as his country's main ally which plays an important role in the anti-terrorism campaign.

As for the critical situation in his country, the Syrian envoy said that making a halt to the humanitarian crisis in Syria will be possible by cooperation of the international community with the Syrian government in the fight against any kind of terrorism and also by the implementation of the UN Security Council's resolutions to this end.

Al-Jaafari also referred to the role played by the Zionist regime in the region to support the terrorist groups of Daesh and al-Nusra.

The envoy concluded his words by appreciating the Iranian nation, Majlis, government and the Supreme Leader for the support they extended to the Syrian nation and government.
