TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said that the US’s long-term practice has led to deep hatred by many countries in the world and the Americans will be expelled from Iraq and Syria.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with the representatives of political, scientific, cultural and student groups on Sunday.

"The US government’s performance in the long-term has resulted in its being abominated by many countries due to its warmongering, training terrorists, helping despotic and ill-reputed governments, unstinting support for the Zionist regime’s increasing oppression and the recent scandalous management of coronavirus," the Supreme Leader said.

"The Americans won’t stay in Iraq and Syria; they’ll be expelled," he added.

“Today, the American society and political system are detested in an important part of the world," the Supreme Leader stressed.

He further said that part of this hatred for the US stems from its current officials’ conduct, including its president and its talkative, illogical, and nonsensical secretary of state.

The meeting used to be held annually during Ramadan with the presence of thousands of students, but this year it was held via video conference due to the health guidelines issued by the National Anti-Coronavirus Campaign Headquarters that has banned large gatherings.

In relevant remarks about Iran’s reprisal attack on Ein al-Asad airbase on January 8, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that although the US has just received a slap across the face by Iran's retaliatory attacks, military reprisal is not enough and the American forces should leave the region.

"For the time being, the Americans have been given a slap, revenge is a different issue," the Leader stressed in his remarks on Wednesday.

"Military moves like this are not enough. The Americans' corruption-stirring presence should come to an end," he added.
